On Saturday, July 6th, and Sunday, July 7th, 2024, the second National Hemp Festival will take place at Cherveux Castle. This event aims to showcase the fascinating history and promising future of hemp, while raising public awareness about its numerous benefits.
Organized by Guillaume Dumoulin, a farmer and founder of the innovative agricultural cooperative La Sévrienne, the festival will bring together producers, processors, experts, entrepreneurs, artisans, local authorities, and enthusiasts from all walks of life. They will gather to share their shared passion for this plant of a thousand virtues, celebrated in a pastoral festival within the wooded medieval setting of Cherveux Castle.
“The Setting of Cherveux Castle is Significant”
This festival offers a unique opportunity to discover how hemp, often underestimated, can play a crucial role in daily life. Cherveux and its preserved medieval castle symbolically become the hemp capital for a day. The attendees may explore hemp’s applications: food, textiles, wellness, construction… So many sectors with multifaceted aspects to smell, touch, taste, and see.
On this day there will also be roundtable discussions led by experts who will share their knowledge and experience with hemp. These conferences will delve into the rich and exciting history of this plant. Discussions will explain hemp’s uses in the textile industry and sustainable construction, as well as its health and wellness benefits.
Hemp demonstrations
Demonstrations will allow visitors to discover the practical applications of hemp in construction. A hemp beer bar, exhibitors from all over France, local actors working for this hemp revolution, tastings, and many surprises throughout the day will make this festival unique.
The National Hemp Day’s goal is to allow everyone to understand the perspectives offered by hemp. It is promoted as a precious, versatile, and ecological resource.
