FAQ

Is cannabis legal in Ireland?

Cannabis in Ireland is illegal for recreational purposes. It is illegal to produce or supply cannabis-based products that are not for medicinal use. Use for medical purposes requires case-by-case approval by the Minister for Health.

In Irish parliament there is now being debated a regulation, which would enable a person who is at least 18 years of age to have possession, for the person’s personal use, of either or both cannabis and cannabis resin that in each case does not exceed a specified amount and to provide for related matters.
