EIHA promoting hemp as sustainable resource

What is EIHA?

The European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) is a trade organization representing the interests of the European cannabis industry. It was founded in 1999 with the aim of promoting the use of hemp products in general. In addition EIHA’s goal is also to create a platform for the exchange of information and experiences between its members. The association commits to develop a sustainable hemp industry in Europe and ensure the full exploitation of hemp’s potential.

First of all, the European Industrial Hemp Association represents the common interests of hemp farmers, producers and traders. Stakeholders work with hemp fibres, shives, seeds, leaves and cannabinoids. Their main task is to serve, protect and represent the hemp sector in the EU and international policy-making. EIHA covers different areas for the application of hemp. They focus namely on the use for construction materials, textiles, cosmetics, feed, food and supplements.

EIHA at Biofach 2022

The association was present at Biofach 2022, which took place in Nuremberg, Germany, on February 9-12, 2022. Biofach is the world’s leading organic food fair with over 3,000 exhibitors from around the world. EIHA took this opportunity to showcase the latest developments in the European hemp industry. They promoted the use of hemp as a sustainable and environmentally friendly resource. The association showcased a range of hemp products, highlighting the versatility of hemp and its potential as a valuable resource in many different industries. Above all, they also organized a series of workshops and presentations that focused on the latest R&D activities in the cannabis industry and discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the sector in Europe.

Why is that important?

Finally, EIHA’s presence at Biofach 2022 was a significant event for the European hemp industry, providing an opportunity to showcase the latest products and innovations and to raise awareness of hemp’s potential as a sustainable resource among producers in other industries. EIHA continues to work to develop a thriving European cannabis industry, and its presence at Biofach 2022 was a clear demonstration of its commitment to this goal.
